[ficlet] The First Flight (Algy/Biggles)
Jul. 5th, 2013 11:01 pmThis is a part of an unfinished piece I started a long time ago. I thought I might as well take some bits out of it, when it doesn't seem like finishing itself. It takes place shortly after their return from France.
Title: The First Flight
Pairing: Algy/Biggles, Biggles/Marie (implied)
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Why did she have to change everything?
Word count: 228 only, I'm afraid
“What are you doing, you fool!” Biggles pushed him away violently. Algy gulped down a sarcastic remark and turned his head away. The hurt expression on his face changed to an offended one.
“Sorry, didn’t mean to inconvenience you,” he snapped. He kicked the hay away, stood up, and made a few quick paces.
“You would just ruin everything.”
“Ruin what if I may ask? I wonder if there is anything left to ruin... It wasn’t me who ruined you in the first place!” Algy turned to face the blow he expected to come, but it never did. Biggles was sitting in the hay with his face downcast.
Anger draining from him, Algy sat back down too.
“Why does it have to be so difficult? I would gladly return to France if things could be the same as they used to be.”
“Don’t say such rubbish.”
They were both silent for a while. Algy was crushing dry straws between his fingers.
“Remember what you’ve told me after my first flight? ‘If ever you leave me again I'll put you under close arrest as soon as your feet are on the ground. Whatever happens, you stick to me.’ And I’m going to stick to you. You’re stuck with me for life, whether you want it or not. You should have thought twice before telling me not to leave you.”
Now I have to go and finish Burning, ha.
