By Jove, Biggles! no.2
Oct. 13th, 2009 09:14 pmI had some time for reading this afternoon. News: Johns became a pilot and then a flying instructor.
These two excerpts have again the great sense for detail and the Johns-ish humour.
She'll loop off the ground!
An S.E.5 landed on an airfield, where Johns was working as a flying instructor. He asked about what type the plane was and then if it was "Pretty useful?"

'... was unfair for other officers to be detailed for burying party after they had no doubt made other arrangements for the day.'
A runaway plane
Johns is still learning to fly in this one.
Runaway 1
Runaway 2
Not to spoil the story right away, color the half-hidden text down here for the ending:
'...who finds it difficult to express his thoughts in mere words, turned on his heel and strode away.'
I don't know about you but I laughed a lot reading this one.
After so many autobiographical moments in WWI Biggles stories I wonder why Biggles hasn't a story with a runaway plane, or has he?
Thank my roommate, who's the proud possessor of a camera (of poor quality) used for making the photos. You also got to see a piece of my thumb and my toy-plane used as a paperweight, yay.
To be continued...
If any of the admins reads this, please make some suitable tags for me *puppy eyes*
